This image is a glimpse into the utter mess of my studio. Despite the fact that my house is tidy and well organised, my studio is a chaotic space filled with a bizarre mix of art materials and strange objects that I accrete like barnacles. I am in a perpetual cycle of losing things and then finding them again - I actually enjoy this and it is strangely inspirational.
I can recognise the perversity in this but I just can't work in a clear space..... As my eyesight gets weaker with age I have become increasingly fascinated with miniaturisation and despite my lack of computer skills, I am gripped by a desire to master new technologies. This is, I guess, a fair description of the processes I go through when I make work. It's hard to explain rationally why I enjoy it so much and am impelled to do it.
