"From trees, we make paper and from paper we make books and art and when we create art or literature, we are making endless new worlds for all those who can read, write and look at them.
We should plant more trees, not just for our environment but so we can make more books. In these books we can learn about the world we live in as well as the inner worlds within ourselves." Fion Gunn 2020

In 'We Breathe' youtu.be/fgitOnZYO_E Gunn has created a landscape in virtual reality, inspired by a Wollstonecraft quote. This is a metaphorical forest with a soundtrack woven around a song 'Hush no More' from 'The Faerie Queen ' an opera composed by Henry Purcell.

In 'Get Wisdom' youtu.be/XvPOD_PzH74 Gunn has created another virtual 'forest of transformation' in which the soundtrack combines the late Klaus Nomi's rendition of 'The Cold Song', also by Henry Purcell, with her young granddaughter's hummed version of the music.

Mary Wollstonecraft wrote many things and her life’s work was focused on the I portance of equality and inclusion. She wrote incisively about the French Revolution and her daughter Mary Shelley’s work ‘Frankenstein’ can be read as a metaphor for revolution and its consequences. I hope my artworks will encourage people to read Mary Wollstonecraft - she died in 1797 and yet her words ring so true today.
