SMALL WORLD
In common with many people I am fascinated by miniaturisation, the ways in which scale alters perception and concentrates the viewers attention. Altered perceptions can be magical and transformative in ways which are hard to put into words. These works often tell quite serious stories but because of their scale they do not threaten and intimidate, rather they can provoke thoughts, questions and emotions gently. This gentle provocation is aided by the magnifying glasses which accompany each work - an invitation to look carefully, a welcome into my small world. After all,we do live in a 'small world'. |
